Manage the server
After installation, the various URLs are displayed. Two consoles are available in web mode. The Host Management console allows you to manage the host in web mode (activation of ssh, etc.). The Veeam Backup & Replication web UI console is the portal for managing backup jobs, repositories, etc. It should be noted that at the time of writing, the features available in the console are still limited. Let’s start by discussing server configuration in console mode. From the server, press the Enter key and enter the admin credentials.
Various options are available. Host configuration allows you to configure various server settings such as IP configuration. Remote Access Configuration allows you to enable SSH or enable the Shell console. It is also possible to restart or shut down the server.
On Host Configuration, it’s possible to configure hostname or Netword (IP address static or assigned by DHCP). It’s also possible to configure HTTP Proxy and NTP server.
On Remote Access Configuration, it’s possible to enable SSH or to enter on the shell console.
Host Management console
With Veeam v13, two different web console can be used. The Veeam Host Management console can be accessed by the URL https://FQDNServer:10443.
The Overwiew windows permit to retrieve some information such as the activation status of SSH, the server’s IP address, or the NTP server used. It’s also possible to change the password of the Veeam Admin with Change Password link.
On the Network windows, we can modify the configuration of the network card. We will add the DNS suffix of our AD directory. After Additional DNS Suffixes, click on Configure.
Click on Add to add a new DNS Suffix. It’s possible to add one or more DNS Suffix.
From the Time windows, select the timezone and click on Update. It’s also possible to Add one or more time zone. It’s also possible to sync the time with Sync Now.
Veeam Backup and Replication web console
This web console permit to manage backup job and backup infrastructure. It’s possible to access at this console from http://FQDNServeur:443. As a reminder, the console is currently limited in terms of functionality.
The web console appear, we can access at the report. The menu on the left permit to manage Backup Proxies, Backup Repositories or managed the server added on Veeam (Hyper-V, vmWARE server, etc.).
For add a licnece, go to the settings menu (in the upper right corner). Click on Licence Information then click on Install. Select the licence file with the window that appears.
Veeam Intelligence can be enable. Click on Veeam Intelligence then check Basic. Click on Save.
Install Veeam Backup and Replication console
We will now discuss installing the Veeam Backup & Replication console on a Windows server. From the relevant server, access the Veeam Backup and Replication web console via the link https://FQDNServer:443. Click on the Download Windows based backup console for full experience link to download the installation setup.
Run the file downloaded to install the Veeam Backup and Replication console.
A new windows appear, click on OK to install Microsoft Windows Desktop Runtime 8.0.17 and Microsoft .NET 8.0.17.
Click on I accept to accept the Licence Agreement.
You can change the installation path of the console using the Customize Settings link. Then click on Install button.
Installation is in progress… Clickj on Finish when it’s finished.
